Dana studied psychology and communication at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Communication. Her background includes research, survey development, and work focused on understanding people’s experiences and the barriers they may face when seeking support and resources.
Growing up in a Hispanic community, Dana saw that conversations about mental health were not always easy to have and could sometimes be treated as something that was better left unspoken. Those experiences shaped her belief that everyone should have a space where they can talk openly about their mental health, know that it is okay to ask for help, and know that resources and support are available. This is a big part of what drew her to the Yellow Tulip Project and its mission to smash the stigma surrounding mental health.
Outside of YTP, Dana enjoys all things beauty, makeup, and fragrance, getting invested in a good reality show or book, and spending time with her loved ones and her pug, Auggie.
