This Mental Health Awareness Month, YTP Youth Ambassador Liana brought passion, purpose, and play to her community by organizing two powerful events for school-aged children. Through creative, hands-on activities, Liana introduced young participants to healthy emotional expression, coping strategies, and the importance of mental health—showing that it’s never too early to start these conversations.
From freeze dance games to origami tulips and taste-testing colorful fruits, every element of her workshops was designed to be accessible, joyful, and meaningful. Her work not only sparked connection and learning in the moment, but also serves as a model for how other youth ambassadors can bring similar programs to their own communities. We’re excited to turn Liana’s workshop ideas into a visual toolkit that others can use as inspiration to plant seeds of hope and resilience wherever they are.
Here’s what Liana shared about why this work means so much to her:
“Mental health education is important to me because I believe that understanding and managing our emotions is essential to overall well-being. As a Yellow Tulip Project student ambassador, I organized workshops during Mental Health Awareness Week for school-aged children where we explored a range of emotions in a fun, creative and age appropriate way. Some of our activities included a freeze dance game, decorated paper tulips with inspirational stickers to create YTP Hope Gardens, tasted healthy snacks and folded tulip origami flowers. Through these sessions, I saw firsthand how empowering it can be for kids to learn different coping strategies. My hope is that this workshop is just the first step towards smashing the stigma around mental health from an early age.”
Thank you, Liana, for your leadership and heart—and for helping young people feel seen, supported, and hopeful. Check out Liana’s Activity Guide below and save for future planning!
