To approach a new direction of psychology and art, I created a piece depicting how youth affects your older self. In this piece, a little girl is shown in black and white, smiling as an array of bubbles surround her, with some containing memories of childhood that shaped who she became. Her present self is shown in the camera screen below, who is also bright and cheery because of the youth she had in the past.
I used a mixture of watercolor for the bubbles, camera, and background, as well as colored pencil for some of the details on the memories in the bubbles. I overall used black-and-white pencil sketch to achieve the before-and-after effect of the piece. I hope to educate and inspire people who view this piece, as it did for me, and I hope to approach mental health in art in new ways like I did with this one!
