Acadia HOPE Day: Northern Light Health and YTP partner to smash mental health stigma

Acadia Hope Day 2025

Northern Light Health invites the public to join the Acadia HOPE Day celebration on Sunday, May 18 from 1-3 p.m. at Cascade Park, 600 State St. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, this free, family-friendly event aims to foster positive mental health, connection and resilience within the community.

“Acadia HOPE Day is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to come together and recognize the importance of mental health,” says Mark Lukens, MBA, senior vice president, Northern Light Health and president, Northern Light Acadia Hospital. “We are thrilled to partner with The Yellow Tulip Project and other local organizations to promote hope and create a brighter future for everyone, especially our youth.”

The event will feature live music, poetry readings, wellness activities and personal stories of hope from individuals who have experienced mental health challenges. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with local mental health resources and learn about ways to support mental wellness in their own lives and communities.

The Yellow Tulip Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to smashing the stigma surrounding mental illness and building a community of support, is a key partner for this event. “So many people are struggling in silence due to the stigma that surrounds mental health,” says Ysanne Bethel, director, youth engagement, The Yellow Tulip Project. “HOPE Day celebrations offer a supportive space for communities to come together, connect, have fun, and reaffirm that no one has to go through their struggles alone.”
