VIRTUAL: Let’s Talk: Tools and strategies for talking to young people about mental health

Join us for the kick-off of our new bi-monthly virtual series, “Let’s Talk,” on Thursday, February 26th at 12pm ET! We are pleased to host a powerful conversation with Erin Belfort, a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, who will explore effective ways to talk to young people about mental health. The dialogue will be followed by actionable steps you can take in your community to make a difference and smash the stigma with YTP. The session will cover the following objectives:
• Review mental health data related to youth mental health disorders• Discuss the red flags or warning signs to be concerned about as a parent or caregiver• Tips for how to talk about mental health• When to consider professional help• How to get involved with YTP’s anti-stigma advocacy• We will have time for Q & A
S​peaker bio: Erin Belfort is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist practicing in Portland, Maine. She is a Mainer and after going ‘away’ for her medical school in Vermont and then residency and fellowship in Boston, she was thrilled to return to her home state to pursue her career and to raise her two children (and boxer dog!) alongside her husband. She is a dedicated medical educator and clinician. She spent more than a decade working in a multi-disciplinary gender clinic and cares deeply about supporting children and adolescents to be their authentic selves. She has particular expertise in the impacts of social media on youth and in family therapy training and practice.
