Spring May 21, 2026 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

IN PERSON: <closed event> A Conversation on Men’s Mental Health @ South Portland High School

Join youth members of SOPO High School’s Active Minds club on Thursday, May 21st at 5-6:30pm for a powerful conversation about men’s mental health. Inspired by The Yellow Tulip Project‘s photo exhibit Young Men Moving Mountains (YMMM), this evening is an opportunity to support youth leadership and face stigma head on – the most powerful antidotes against stigma are conversation and connection. When we join together, we are building strong, supportive, and educated communities that can better support people struggling with mental health. Through normalizing conversations about mental illness, we help individuals feel less alone and realize that there is always hope.

The evening will begin with a walkthrough of the YMMM photo exhibit, followed by food and meaningful conversation led by trained youth facilitators in the Learning Commons. Together we will gather, talk, and smash the stigma!

About the Exhibit

Young Men Moving Mountains (YMMM) is a photography and storytelling initiative created by YTP that showcases the stories and perspectives of young men who care about mental health. These powerful portraits showcase young men simultaneously being strong and bold, while also being vulnerable and critically conscious. In their own words, they show us that there is power in vulnerability – that there is strength in telling your story. While changing perceptions of social stigma, especially the kind that young men face, can be extremely arduous, these brave young men are leveraging the tool of visual storytelling to truly move mountains and tackle toxic norms head-on.
